Born in North Carolina and raised all over the United States,
I graduated from Brooke Point High School in Stafford, Virginia in 2000. In 2003, I completed my Bachelor
of Arts degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Soon after, I realized that teaching was my
passion. I began attending Drake University, earning my Master of Arts in Teaching degree in 2005. The following
two years were spent teaching Reading and Language Arts for the Des Moines Public Schools. This is my second year teaching
English 9 for Ankeny Community Schools. My husband, Curtis, and I have been Ankeny residents since 2004. In
October of 2006, we were blessed with our daughter, Savannah. This November, we are expecting our second child.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending lots of time with family and friends, reading, staying active, and cheering on
the Iowa Hawkeyes. I truly love teaching English, and thoroughly enjoy working with this age group. Students
this age have so much energy, creativity, and fresh ideas.
